As an education law firm, EducationLawyers.com is deeply troubled by the reports of sexual abuse at Phillips Exeter Academy and other educational institutions. It goes without saying that these types of crimes are unacceptable and have a lifelong impact on the victims. It is crucial that schools take proactive measures to protect their students, including conducting thorough background checks on all employees, providing education on sexual abuse and misconduct, and having clear policies and procedures in place to report and investigate any incidents of abuse.
In the case of Szczesny Kaminski, it is deeply concerning that he was able to continue his abuse even after being warned by school administration. This highlights the need for institutions to take swift and decisive action when faced with allegations of abuse. It is our hope that through this plea bargain, Kaminski will be held accountable for his actions and that the victim will receive the support and justice she deserves.
